eBooks Are The Ultimate Home Business

January 31, 2015

Are eBooks the ultimate home business?  They are easy to do, inexpensive, and can be done from your living room or on the beach.

I made some money from eBooks last year and you can too.  Not bunches of money, but my eBooks are cheap and I don’t publish much.  The best part about this?  The money from these eBooks will keep coming in, month after month.

The two 1099 tax reports below are from Smashwords – Amazon and Google are yet to arrive.  Smashwords distributes to Apple, Barnes and Noble, and others.

There are two reports, one for non-fiction, one for fiction where I use a pen name.

Amazon and Google have the same eBooks for comparison and I will report those sales when possible.

If I can do this, you can do this and make MONEY!

What you need: instructions, a story, access to a computer.  Cost – Zero.

Improvements to Homepreneurs

January 8, 2013

Gradually, changes are made to Homepreneurs to make the blog more user-friendly.  The ads previously at the bottom of each post are removed going forward.  This is available through WordPress for a $30 charge.  The category list is reduced into higher-level, more meaningful titles.  Looking at the blog now, you will see 6 headings:

Homepreneurs header

1) Home – has all recent postings

2) Home business ideas – has everything from photography to crafts to graphic design and writing.  These are not listed out, but clicking on this category will give all posted business ideas

3) Homepreneurs – subtitles are Blogging, eBook, Social Networking and Success Stories

4) Start & Grow – has marketing, branding, Financial, planning, technology, Insurance

5) Work at Home Jobs – contains survey sites, quick money on-line positions, work from home positions

6) About

These categories display differently (width) in various versions of the major browsers: Firefox, IE, Chrome, Safari, but all categories are present in each.

I hope these small changes make your visit to our site more useful and easier to navigate.  Please let me know of any suggestions for future improvement.  This site is for your use and to help you find work.

Best wishes for 2013 and thanks for your continued support.

Work at Home Job – eJury – Updated

October 5, 2012

Homepreneurs often posts leads to work from home jobs but we can’t always verify whether these are legitimate.  Recently, we posted a lead for virtual jurors or eJuries. Homepreneurs signed up for this option to see if we’d be asked to serve on an eJury.

* 10-17-12 update:

Here is proof of payment:

Just thought you’d like to know eJury, L.L.C. sent you $6.00 USD.

Note from eJury, L.L.C.:

Thank you for your participation in Case No. 0818. We value your opinion and hope you enjoyed the experience.
Case No. 0818

This was my second payment in a week.  Not much, but every bit helps.

I’m pleased to say Homepreneurs received a notification yesterday asking for us to serve on a virtual jury, read a case, and render a verdict.  While not one of the 50 selected to serve, we believe this is a legitimate work from home job.  And today – 10-8-12 – I was called again, served this time, and I’ll get paid for my time!  See below for details of in the email:

—————

Dear Cook County eJuror:A new eJury case entitled “RXXXXXXXX, et al v. Community Hospital” has been posted to your eDocket page on this Thursday afternoon.  This is a medical negligence case and you are invited to participate.
This may be the first eJury invitation for some of you, so let me offer some brief instruction. To begin, go to http://www.ejury.comand click on the Juror’s login link. There is a “Forgot your Password” link for anyone who needs a reminder, or feel free to email me directly.  If it’s been quite some time since you signed-up, you may be prompted to update your profile.Once logged in, the rest should be self-explanatory.  The one piece of advice I will offer is this…there is no such thing as a “wrong answer.”  The attorneys are just looking for your personal opinions and feedback. The more feedback you can provide, the better. This case will automatically conclude once 50 verdicts have been entered, which usually takes about 2 or 3 days.
Good luck!

Home Business Idea – Medical Transcriptionists

September 16, 2012

Medical transcriptionists listen to voice recordings that physicians and other health professionals make and convert them into written reports. They interpret medical terminology when preparing patients’ medical histories, discharge summaries, and other documents. The documents they produce become part of a patient’s permanent file.  Many transcriptionists are self-employed and work from home offices, receiving dictation and submitting drafts electronically.

Medical transcriptionists typically have the following duties:

  • Listen to the recorded dictation of a doctor or other health professional
  • Transcribe the dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents
  • Translate medical abbreviations or jargon into the appropriate long form
  • Recognize and edit inconsistencies within a report and follow up with the healthcare provider to ensure accuracy
  • Compose and submit written reports for physicians for approval
  • Understand and follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements

Medical transcriptionists who work in doctors’ offices may have other duties, including: answering phones, greeting patients, and general office work.

Homepreneurs Receives Recognition For Inspirational Blog

August 6, 2012

Homepreneurs is humbled and honored to be recognized by Patti Riggs Hale as one of her 15 inspirational blogs.  Ms. Hale is a veteran freelance writer for blogs, websites, magazines, newspapers, television, advertising – and I suspect – recipes for fantastic pies!  One of her current projects is How to find Work from Home, a website with lists of work from home blogs, job boards for writers, suggestions and commentary on working at home, and much, much more.

A multi-talented and incredibly diverse person, Hale notes in her profile: I am a big animal lover, my husband and I (he more than me) are involved in politics, I like learning about new things and in my spare time, I have been known to crochet, make soap, candles, potpourri, garden and refinish furniture.

A previous nominee for inspirational writing, Hale opted to ‘pay it forward’ and nominate 15 blogs she found valuable.  Homepreneurs is extremely fortunate to be one of those 15.

As I type this post, I am deeply touched, stunned, and truly at a loss for words when recognized by Patti Riggs Hale, an incredibly successful, talented, and professional writer.  I commit to all readers – past, present, and future – to put my best effort into each and every article on this blog.

Thank you, Patti.  You make life a little easier and a little better for so many, especially this humbled scribe.

Make Money Online As A Virtual Juror

June 26, 2012

The Internet creates many opportunities to work and make money from home.  Here are some more options for using your home office for work, not as an extra storage room!  Some of these work at home ideas we’ve blogged about in the past but add options in this post.  Remember to always do your research on these and avoid work from home scams.

Get Paid as a Mock Juror

Mock or virtual jurors participate in case reviews and provide lawyers with opinions on pending cases.  eJury “will issue payment … in exchange for participation in review of cases, answering of questions, and providing of comments.”  More information here.

A second option becoming an OnlineVerdict.com juror.  Review interesting legal cases at home, answer online questionnaires, and earn some money for your time.  Payments vary depending the complexity and length of the case, with payments starting at $20 per case up to $60 per case!  Get more information.

Try becoming a surrogate juror.  As a surrogate juror, help resolve actual legal cases in your community for ONE DAY’S WORK if you are randomly selected.  “Act as an arbitrator in complex criminal or civil cases by listening to attorneys present their cases.”  Read more here.

These jobs will require oaths of privacy and limit the number of cases people can do in a given day or week.  But this is a great way to enjoy an intellectual challenge while making money from home!

Updated 10-5-2012: This opportunity – at least for eJury – is legitimate.  I was called to give an opinion for eJury.  Please see this follow-up article.
