2013 in review

January 6, 2014

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.  The number I am most proud of is breaking 100,000 visits!

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 29,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 11 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Sometime over the past couple days, this blog – homepreneurs.wordpress.com – passed the 100,000 views mark.

I am thrilled.

A combination of the words “home” and “entrepreneur”,  Homepreneurs is a blog, website, and other social media sites dedicated to starting and running a home business and work at home jobs.

I’ve met many great people and learned a hell of a lot from those wonderful folks.

Some in particular I’d like to single out are:

WordPress.com – for making blogging very simple.  Could not do this without you.

– Patti Hale – blogs at howtofindworkfromhome.com

– Mark Holtzman, PHD, CPA who blogs at theaccountinator.com

– Rose Chimera – blogs at rosechimera.wordpress.com/

– April Carvelli – blogs at ghostofawriter.com

Each has taught me how to write, read, learn, and live.  Some have provided lessons in humanity and humility.  Thank you.

I am also very, very thankful to all who have stopped by, read and commented.  This represents 3 years of research, writing, and hard work.

How did I get to 100,000 views?  A combination of social media, frequent posts, relevant content and YOU.  I will write more on the accomplishment in the future.

I have told you many times before that if I can do this, so can you.  I am not special, unique or amazingly gifted.  I am no different or better than you.  Start your own blog on WordPress.com, pick a unique topic, and write!

From the bottom of my heart – thank you!!!!

Homepreneurs New Website

August 18, 2013

As mentioned earlier, Homepreneurs has added a website – homepreneurs.net – to its blog, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts.  This website is more flexible and will be easier for our readers to use and navigate.  As always, all articles and postings are free.  You will notice the navigation is similar, but expands on this blog.  We welcome your comments, opinions, and thoughts.

We plan to use this blog as both a preview platform and for shorter posts or temporary articles.  The website will have full articles and more static content.  Important content will duplicate on both.  Breaking and critical news will display on the blog.

Homepreneurs.net website

Homepreneurs was launched during the big recession and is designed to provide our readers with information needed to start and run a home business.  Many home business ideas are available along with success stories about people who have started a home business.

Homepreneurs firmly believes that running a business is the future.  With unemployment rates still high and expected to stay that way, a home business is likely very necessary.  We are here to help you achieve your business and career goals.

With best wishes,

Dion Shaw

A Little Patience Please

August 17, 2013

Homepreneurs is making some changes to its hosting provider.  There will still be a blog on WordPress.com but Homepreneurs will also have a website with Blue Host.

This change is made to help our readers more easily find the content they want.  A website provides increased flexibility and many options that a blog cannot provide.

Thank you for your patience during this transition period.  Homepreneurs will be running at full speed within a couple days.

Best regards,

Dion Shaw
