September 9, 2013

Sometime over the past couple days, this blog – homepreneurs.wordpress.com – passed the 100,000 views mark.

I am thrilled.

A combination of the words “home” and “entrepreneur”,  Homepreneurs is a blog, website, and other social media sites dedicated to starting and running a home business and work at home jobs.

I’ve met many great people and learned a hell of a lot from those wonderful folks.

Some in particular I’d like to single out are:

WordPress.com – for making blogging very simple.  Could not do this without you.

– Patti Hale – blogs at howtofindworkfromhome.com

– Mark Holtzman, PHD, CPA who blogs at theaccountinator.com

– Rose Chimera – blogs at rosechimera.wordpress.com/

– April Carvelli – blogs at ghostofawriter.com

Each has taught me how to write, read, learn, and live.  Some have provided lessons in humanity and humility.  Thank you.

I am also very, very thankful to all who have stopped by, read and commented.  This represents 3 years of research, writing, and hard work.

How did I get to 100,000 views?  A combination of social media, frequent posts, relevant content and YOU.  I will write more on the accomplishment in the future.

I have told you many times before that if I can do this, so can you.  I am not special, unique or amazingly gifted.  I am no different or better than you.  Start your own blog on WordPress.com, pick a unique topic, and write!

From the bottom of my heart – thank you!!!!

Homepreneurs Success Story – ghostofawriter

January 20, 2013

Homepreneurs is fortunate to meet interesting and successful people in various industries that run a home business.  We caught up with April C., a ghostwriter with the business name “ghostofawriter”.  Ghostwriters are writers who write books, articles, stories, reports, or other manuscripts that are officially credited to another person.  Celebrities, politicians, and executives often use ghostwriters to create or edit magazine articles, blogs, autobiographies or similar.  Ghostwriters have varying degrees of involvement in a project, from rough draft editing to a full work under other names.

I admire April very much.  She is a go-getter, successful as an independent, and had the courage to take the self-employment plunge.  April is very talented and I am pleased to tell our readers about her “success story.”

Homepreneurs: Why did you start your own business?
April: In January of 2012 I suddenly found myself laid off. I had almost 20 years of experience in my field, however I had never completed my degree, and because of that a lot of companies were ignoring my applications. The few offers I did get were such a low salary that it was laughable.

After reading some news articles and various blogs I realized that my command of the English language was considerably better than many who were making money at it. So, I decided I might as well give it a shot.
