September 9, 2013

Sometime over the past couple days, this blog – homepreneurs.wordpress.com – passed the 100,000 views mark.

I am thrilled.

A combination of the words “home” and “entrepreneur”,  Homepreneurs is a blog, website, and other social media sites dedicated to starting and running a home business and work at home jobs.

I’ve met many great people and learned a hell of a lot from those wonderful folks.

Some in particular I’d like to single out are:

WordPress.com – for making blogging very simple.  Could not do this without you.

– Patti Hale – blogs at howtofindworkfromhome.com

– Mark Holtzman, PHD, CPA who blogs at theaccountinator.com

– Rose Chimera – blogs at rosechimera.wordpress.com/

– April Carvelli – blogs at ghostofawriter.com

Each has taught me how to write, read, learn, and live.  Some have provided lessons in humanity and humility.  Thank you.

I am also very, very thankful to all who have stopped by, read and commented.  This represents 3 years of research, writing, and hard work.

How did I get to 100,000 views?  A combination of social media, frequent posts, relevant content and YOU.  I will write more on the accomplishment in the future.

I have told you many times before that if I can do this, so can you.  I am not special, unique or amazingly gifted.  I am no different or better than you.  Start your own blog on WordPress.com, pick a unique topic, and write!

From the bottom of my heart – thank you!!!!

Dion

Put Your Money Where Your Blog Is: Should You Pay for Traffic?

August 7, 2013

Pay for traffic to your blog?

The Daily Post

Even those of us who blog for purely personal reasons appreciate some validation, whether comments, likes, or just pageviews. Encouraging that feedback is one of the most frustrating things for many bloggers; when we hit “publish,” we want to see the little bar graph go up, up, and away and when we don’t, it’s discouraging. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what readers respond to — a labor of love sinks like a stone, while a five-minute rant makes the rounds on Twitter.

There’s plenty of advice on attracting and engaging readers (some of it from us), most of which requires time and effort without guaranteed success . . . although there is one foolproof method: pay for traffic. But is paid traffic the perfect way to bring in new readers, or does it undermine the point of a blog?

More Traffic to your WordPress Blog

June 9, 2013

Homepreneurs recently posted about using a blog for home business start up exposure.  Start ups want as much traffic as possible to build name recognition and business “buzz”.  Starting a blog is not enough – people won’t visit automatically.  Keywords, website links, SEO and many other factors are involved.

Need or want more visitors to your WordPress blog?  Try these tips recommended by the fine folks here at WordPress.com support:

Reasons Every Startup Should Blog

May 29, 2013

Are you a startup? Start with a blog!

CAHOOTS

start up blog

A blog is a great way to open up the dialogue between your startup and the online community.  It is something we (Cahoots) have been doing for a few months now while we refine our concept and product.  Our blog has been a fantastic tool, asset, and outlet for us.  We are attracting a growing audience to engage with on a regular basis. As it turns out the biggest advantage isn’t the traffic, it’s the thought, research, feedback, and encouragement that blogging gives us.  Therefore, we recommend blogging as a cornerstone to any startup.  Here’s why:

1.  The Edge: As of December 2012, there are over 634 million websites (Pingdom).  There are an average of 150,000 new websites and 7.3 million pages added to the internet everyday. A blog is just one more way to get an edge and stand out from the competition. Research has found…

I surf the Internet almost every day looking for articles that I believe will help you and Homepreneurs.  I don’t do this for money – I make none from this effort.  I do this to help everyone find a way to make money or find a home business niche.

Today, I ran across a very promising guest post on Richescorner.com.

Preview the Future Design of the WordPress Dashboard

April 20, 2013

For all my WordPress blogging friends –

The WordPress.com Blog

Though nothing stays still for long with WordPress, the design of your blog’s dashboard hasn’t changed much lately. While we’ve added new features and made some adjustments along the way, the dashboard has been looking forward to a refresh for some time. With that in mind, seven weeks ago, a scrappy gang of web designers and developers teamed up to explore how to do just that. We asked ourselves the question: “What should a modern version of WordPress look like?” We decided that:

  • It should have a simple, uncluttered design; free of excessive decoration and focused on your content.
  • It should use webfonts for beautiful, legible typography that’s consistent in every browser.
  • It should have a responsive design that’s tailored to PCs, tablets and smartphones.
  • It should do all this while retaining the familiar, user-tested dashboard interface that millions of users already understand.
