A major obstacle to starting a home business is health insurance. If possible to find, the cost was very high.
The introduction of the Affordable Care Act removes this barrier from individual coverage and home business or small businesses. The Health Insurance Marketplace starts on Oct 1, 2013. Each state will have either its own Health Marketplace or use Healthcare.gov.
Individuals have a choice of four health plan levels: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. All plans have a monthly premium – bronze is the lowest level. In general, when choosing your health plan, keep this in mind: the lower the premium, the higher the out-of-pocket costs when you need care; the higher the premium, the lower the out-of-pocket costs when you need care.
